Each year, we invite the winners of the scholarship programme to participate in a summer Mentoring Cruise. During the week-long sailing trip along the route of the Great Mazurian Lakes, participants are teamed up with Foundation mentors to form crews and spend time together on yachts. The intensive contact between mentees and mentors allows them to get to know each other better and talk in depth about applying to study abroad.
Mentors are able to find out exactly what the mentees’ needs and expectations are, answer their questions and discuss key issues. The outcome of the Cruise is to develop an outline the application and agree on a tentative timetable for Cooperation over the next intensive months before submitting documents to your dream university.
The informal atmosphere of the Mentoring Cruise encourages frank and open conversation.
It is also an opportunity to establish relationships with peers that most often develop into friendships for years to come. The programme for each trip includes numerous practical workshops and presentations on the basic elements of an application, such as writing a cover letter or the recruitment process in the chosen country. Participants of the Cruise return home equipped with a set of knowledge about the opportunities and requirements to be met when recruiting for the universities of their choice. During the Cruise, the crews are also joined by representatives of our Partners and invited guests, so the trip is also an opportunity to be inspired by their career paths and talk about key decisions in their professional lives.
