Scholarship Gala

The gala is the culmination of the qualification process for the OFF Mentoring Programme.

This is a unique opportunity to learn about the remarkable stories and achievements of our award winners and have conversations with experienced mentors who are students or graduates of world-class universities such as Harvard University, University of Oxford and University of Cambridge. Leading representatives from business, culture and public administration are invited to attend the event.

Coming to the Our Future Foundation Scholarship Gala is not only an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our award winners, but also to experience an extraordinary atmosphere, inspiring talks and make valuable contacts.

Successful applicants selected in a two-stage recruitment process receive individual and comprehensive support from experienced mentors – students and alumni from world-class universities such as Harvard University, University of Oxford and University of Cambridge.

Mentors advise on the choice of university and course, provide details of the application, help prepare the necessary documents, and offer advice on planning a further career path or seeking additional funding. However, above all, they share with their charges what is most important when choosing a degree course – their personal experiences and invaluable first-hand knowledge.

Each year, we invite the winners of the scholarship programme to participate in a summer Mentoring Cruise. During the week-long sailing trip along the route of the Great Mazurian Lakes, participants are teamed up with Foundation mentors to form crews and spend time together on yachts. The intensive contact between mentees and mentors allows them to get to know each other better and talk in depth about applying to study abroad. The informal atmosphere of the Mentoring Cruise encourages frank and open conversation. It is also an opportunity to establish relationships with peers that most often develop into friendships for years to come. The programme for each trip includes numerous practical workshops and presentations on the basic elements of an application, such as writing a cover letter or the recruitment process in the chosen country.
